I couldn't think of anything that would be causing such a drop in battery life. I'd noticed my battery life seemingly disappear before my eyes over the past week - from over 4 hrs down to a measly 2 hours! So I did a bit of poking around on the apple support forums, checked my system profile, activity monitor etc - nothing out of the ordinary.
